Job Summary

Location:Morgantown, WV

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIITIES:

  1. Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  2. Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements including basic math; proving part programs.
  3. Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
  4. Loads feed mechanisms by lifting stock into position.
  5. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
  6. Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  7. Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  8. Must have machinist tools to perform job.
  9. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, meetings, workshops, etc.
  10. Perform related duties as assigned.
  11. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must have High School Diploma or equivalent, Vocational training preferred.
  2. Must have minimum of two (2) years of experience in manufacturing and operations.
  3. Must have working knowledge of gauges and calipers.
  4. Must be able to meet minimum tool requirements.
  5. Performs work under minimal supervision.
  6. Ability to work as part of a team.
  7. Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  8. Proven ability to meet deadlines and follow directions.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job duties consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  2. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  3. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
  4. Frequent walking and/or standing is required.
  5. Frequent bending, pushing/pulling, lifting/carrying of parts.
  6. Ability to work safely and adhere to the Swanson Safety System in daily job duties.
