Senior Accounting Manager – Morgantown, WV

The Senior Accounting Manager will serve as a key member of the finance team and will report to the Controller. This position is responsible for the daily operations of the accounting department as well as providing professional accounting support to a variety of financial functions, including but not limited to monthly financial closing, reporting and analysis and cost accounting / inventory control. The Accounting Manager must possess a solid knowledge of GAAP and can ensure first-class financial accounting across multiple company entities. Success in this role will require strong management, communication, technology, organizational and analytical skills as well as the desire for professional growth.

Job Summary

Location: Morgantown, WV

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Oversee and manage the finance staff and general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, intercompany activity, fixed assets and taxes
  2. Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships.
  3. Oversee the annual financial audit and the semi-annual bank audit.
  4. Responsible for multiple systems including, QAD ERP Hyperion, fixed asset system/module and lease accounting system maintenance and control.
  5. Assess current accounting practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
  6. Support team members with job and inventory transactions through research and provide appropriate training to avoid further challenges.
  7. Translate cost accounting concepts (including absorption, variances, inventory valuation and job cost valuation) to non-finance management and support the learning process of these concepts.
  8. Oversee the annual physical inventory for each entity.
  9. Develop, implement, monitor/audit a cycle count program for each entity.
  10. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, meetings, workshops, etc.
  11. Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  12. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  2. Must have minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Accounting.
  3. Must have experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to Cost Accounting and Inventory.
  4. High Level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and report/query writing and development experience.
  5. Ability to work under minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
  6. Ability to effectively work both independently and in a team setting.
  7. Effective written and verbal communication skills
  8. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and ERP systems.
  9. Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  10. Proven ability to meet deadlines and follow directions.

  1. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job duties consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  2. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
