Ability to efficiently and productively operate an engine lathe and the majority of all machines in the cylinder repair shop. Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings, to read micrometers, and work within required machining tolerances and possess a working of the repair procedures and tolerances for conventional and long-wall hydraulic cylinders.

Job Summary

Location:Helper, UT

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
  2. Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
  3. Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
  4. Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  5. Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  6. Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
  7. Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
  8. Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock in order to display placement of cuts.
  9. Comply with all safety policies and procedures at all times.
  10. Performs routine safety inspections as assigned by supervisor.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must have minimum of three (3) years of experience in manufacturing and operations.
  3. Performs work under minimal supervision.
  4. Ability to work as part of a team.
  5. Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  6. Proven ability to meet deadlines and follow directions.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to perform the essential job duties consistent safely and successfully with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  2. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  3. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
  4. Frequent walking and/or standing is required.
  5. Frequent bending, pushing/pulling, lifting/carrying of parts.
  6. Ability to work safely and adhere to the Swanson Safety System in daily job duties.
